Superyacht Deck Crew Training Package
Course Outline
Planning a career in the Super Yacht industry? In need of a career break? Or simply lured by the glamorous world of professional yachting?
Before you embark on your career aboard super yachts you will need to complete the STCW95 Basic Safety Training Package. This is compulsory for all crew working at sea and will provide you with the minimum standard of qualification to work on a vessel of any size, better equipping you to deal with emergencies at sea.
STCW95 certification is a requirement for a crew position on a super yacht, but does not necessarily qualify you for a crew position. There are a number of other courses worth considering which will offer you the additional training and certification you will need if you expect to be signed aboard a vessel.
Red Ensign provides that training and certification
Should you seek these skills and certification then do consider our monthly run Deck Crew Training Package. These packages are provided at a truly competitive price at our training facility in Cowes, easily reached through Southampton International Airport with regular flights to destinations such as Palma and the South of France.

Day 3: RYA VHF DSC Short Range Radio
This course introduces you to your VHF and GMDSS radio sets, and to the procedures which are internationally recognised for use on the Short Range Radio Airwaves.
The course follows the short range certification required to achieve the qualification of Restricted (VHF) Radio Operator which is a legal requirement for using or overseeing VHF on board Ship.
Day 4: RYA Diesel Engine Maintenance
This one day course provides an awareness of the main systems of a marine diesel engine and teaches the ability to take simple measures to prevent mechanical breakdown at sea, and also to rectify defects which do not require workshop support.
Mechanical failure is the main cause of lifeboat call out to yachts and motor cruisers. Basic maintenance and engine care may make sure you do not become a statistic.
