Course Outline

Do you love being out on the water and feel that you need to improve your skills gaining some valuable, professional qualifications?  Our Red Ensign Boating Package combines RYA and Red Ensign training modules to offer the perfect mix of practical and theory modules to start you on a career in the yachting industry or to help you gain confidence with your own vessel. 

Package detail

Duration: 4 days (optional day 5) from Monday to Friday consisting of the following certificated modules

RYA Power Boat Level II (2 days)
RYA Short Range Certificate (SRC)/ VHF licence (1 day)

RYA Radar Course (1 day)or optional RYA Diesel Engine Maintenance (1 day)

Optional add-on: 

RED ENSIGN Basic Navigation (1 day)
 

Programme Breakdown

(Please note that the days for the individual modules may vary)

Days 1 & 2: RYA Powerboat Level 2

RYA Powerboat Level 2 is the basic course for anyone operating a RIB or small powerboat. This two day course combimes time on the water with a basic introduction to navigational theory.

Day 3: RYA Short Range Certificate (SRC) / VHF Licence

This course introduces you to VHF and GMDSS radio sets, and to the procedures which are internationally recognised for use on the Short Range Radio airwaves. 

Day 4:  Option 1:  RYA Radar

The aim of the course is to teach you to use small boat Radar to assist decision-making in navigation, pilotage and collision avoidance. 

Day 4:  Option 2:   RYA Diesel Engine Maintenance

On this course you will learn the basic systems of a marine diesel engine and it will provide you with the ability to take simple measures to maintain your engine to prevent mechanical breakdown at sea.

Day 5:  Additional Course Option, Red Ensign Basic Navigation and Chart Work

We also offer the Red Ensign Basic Navigation and Chart Work course lasting 1 day which can be added to your training. This course teaches the essentials of navigation and chart reading, how tides and weather forecasts work, how to plan routes across the water and much more. The additional cost for this course is £116.50 inc VAT.

Entry Requirements

There are no forma entry requirements for this course however you should be over the age of 18.

Costs

The price for this course package is £450.00 inc VAT

A separate payment of £30 will be required by either debit/credit card or cheque on the day of your VHF course to accompany your licence application.
