STCW 95 Advanced Fire Fighting
Course Outline
Exciting and predominantly practical with a major focus on "command and control", this course is for seafarers who are elected to control fire-fighting operations and officers who wish to qualify for a Certificate of Competency.
MV Vital Spark provides a unique fire fighting and search and rescue facility located here at Red Ensign. During the course, delegates will learn how to:
- Control fire-fighting operations aboard ship
- Organise, train and direct fire parties
- Inspect and service fire detection and extinguishing systems and equipment
- Investigate and compile reports on incidents involving fire

Learning Mode
The syllabus covers fire-fighting procedure at sea and in port with emphasis on organisation, tactics and effective command including liaison with shore based fire fighters. On completion the candidate will be able to:
- Control fire-fighting operations aboard ship
- Organise and train fire parties - "Command and Control"
- Inspect and service fire detection and extinguishing systems and equipment
- Investigate and compile reports on incidents involving fire
This course is conducted at our unique fire fighting and search and rescue facility, MV Vital Spark, located at Red Ensign, Cowes, Isle of Wight.
A variety of practical exercises involving fighting fires of different types and intensity. Delegates are assessed on their ability to successfully control the operations side of an incident and fire fighting teams.
Entry Requirements
The course is open to seafarers who have completed basic training in fire prevention. All trainees must be in good health.

The course costs are £649.00 inclusive of VAT
There must be a minimum of 4 delegates for this course to run.
