  • Tides
  • Tidal streams
  • Buoyage
  • Lights and their characteristics
  • Pilotage
  • Electronic aids to navigation

  • Rules of the road
  • Safety at sea
  • Fog! and sailing safety
  • Passage planning
  • The marine environment

The course is taught in our fully equipped teaching rooms based at our headquarters in Cowes. Currently the course is run over a week.

The assumed level of knowledge before starting this course is the Day Skipper Shorebased course. Some experience of participative cruising would be of benefit.
