Holders of the Coastal Skipper sail certificate may take a conversion examination to obtain the Coastal Skipper Power Certificate, and Power candidates may convert to sail.

These course details describe the likely topics covered by our course, but it will be mainly driven by your experience and your personal requirements for the conversion of your skills in the chosen area.

The objectives of the course will be to ensure competency in the power or sail option that you have chosen, covering these (or equivalent) topics:

• Passage planning
• Preparation for sea (in particular, stowage and safety briefing)
• Pilotage
• Passage making
• Ability as a skipper
• Yacht handling under power / sail
• Knowledge of adverse weather conditions
• Emergency situations
• Rules of the Road

The course will take place on board one of our yachts in the vicinity of The Solent.

RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Sail or Power (depending on requirements)

At lest half the requried experience for yacht master or coastal skipper (whichever is relevant) in a power vesell such as a motor cruiser, i.e. for Yachtmaster this would include 1250 miles, 25 days, 3 days as skipper, 3 passages over 60 miles including 1 overnight and 1 as skipper.

This package is priced at £850 (ex VAT) and does not include accommodation, nor the price of the RYA examination (£155 (no VAT)) which must be paid to the examiner directly.
