The objectives of this course is to provide all those attending with the practical skills and knowledge to undertake the duties of Ships Security Officer

This course covers the following topics:

• Co-ordination and Implementation of a ships security plan
• Maintain and supervise operation of s ships security plan
• Monitoring of the ships security environment and any necessary modifications, updates or reviews of the Ships Security plan elements
• Regular security inspections of ships to ensure appropriate security measures are maintained
• Co-ordinate all the security aspects involved on-board passenger or cargo carrying vessels

This course is conducted over a three (3) day period of theory and practical training

The course is delivered through a mixed mode. Theory sessions are taught in the dedicated Red Ensign training rooms. The course also comprises practical scenarios, and underpinning theory in addition to utilizing some of the industries operational detection and electronic sensing devices.

While no specific pre-requisites exist however those candidates wishing to undertake this module would be expected to have sufficient knowledge and practical experience of merchant vessel operations. Candidates with a police, military or security enforcement background would likely also meet the criteria.
