COURSE NUMBER SFITA 3


The SeaFish association courses are designed to conform to MCA requirements and consists of both theory and practical sessions. It provides first aid skills and techniques suitable for those working in the commercial fishing industry and in other seagoing industries.

The course covers the following subjects:

  • General principles of immediate action
  • Body structure and functions
  • Position of the casualty
  • The unconscious casualty
  • Resuscitation
  • Bleeding
  • Management of shock
  • Burns and scalds; acceidents casued by electrical current
  • Rescue and transportation of casualty
  • Bandaging
  • Hypo- and hyper-thermia

The course is run at our headquarters in Cowes, Isle of Wight. It will take the form of discussion and practical sessions designed to deliver and test skills covered by the syllabus.
