Successful completion of the training programme and assessment will enable candidates to demonstrate the assessment of an unresponsive victim who is not breathing normally, performance of CPR, and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator.

By the end of the course participants will be able to demonstrate safe and appropriate practice when using an automated external defibrillator on an adult in accordance with Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines.

The underpinning knowledge acquired by successful candidates will include:

• Describe ventricular fibrillation and its significance
• Explain defibrillation
• Explain the importance of early defibrillation
• Identifies when AED should be used
• Describes the maintenance requirements of an AED
• Describes what records should be kept

This course is taught on-site in our specially equipped training rooms at our headquarters in Cowes, Isle of Wight.
